The Nova Scotia Instructional Leadership Academy (NSILA) is a three-year professional learning program offered by the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD), in partnership with the Public School Administrators Association of Nova Scotia (PSAANS) and the Educational Leadership Consortium of Nova Scotia (ELCNS).

The goal of the NSILA program is to strengthen and expand the capacity for school-based instructional leadership in order to enhance teaching, learning, and student achievement across Nova Scotia’s public schools.

Upon successful completion of the three-year program, participants are awarded a Diploma in Instructional Leadership by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. This diploma recognizes demonstrated competency in instructional leadership. Under the Education Act Regulations, graduates of the NSILA program are eligible to apply for an upgrade to their teacher certification level.
