I am pleased to welcome you to the Educational Leadership Consortium of Nova Scotia Ltd (ELCNS) website. This organization is committed to providing leadership opportunities for educators in Nova Scotia through programs which are based on the needs of educators and developed by Nova Scotia educators. Please take some time to review the variety of professional learning programs and the relevant resources and links on the website.
Historically, ELCNS professional learning programs have targeted educators already in positions of senior leadership (principals, vice principals and central office personnel) or teachers who were aspiring to move into an administrative leadership role. While this group continues to be an important audience for our professional learning programs, ELCNS has expanded many of our offerings to meet the professional needs of classroom teachers who want to develop their instructional strategies to better meet the needs of their students, become effective curriculum leaders, or who are interested in fulfilling the role of a coach or mentor. This expansion of our audience is very exciting for the ELCNS and certainly supports what we have learned about effective schools being those that develop and foster educational leadership from within their own staff.
Currently, during the 2019-20 school year, the ELCNS is undergoing a Strategic Planning exercise to help ascertain if our current program offerings are meeting the needs of our Regional Centres for Education and other partner organizations from across the province. The goal of this exercise is to set direction and to determine specific actions for the organization over the next 3 - 5 years.
